In general, I really like my new laptop - its speed, the silence of its SSD, the ease with which I set it up. But its screen quality is so atrocious as to make the computer unusable without an external monitor which, obviously, I cannot take with me into the archives.Every possible setting for contrast, color, brightness, resolution has been tweaked. (Yes, I’ve checked for protective shipping film; there is none.) Everything remains gray. Text in word processing and elsewhere is gray, not black, against a pale blue/gray background. No red is brighter than a pale pink. There is so little contrast that the slider in scroll bars melts into the bar itself to become invisible. Icons in the task bar, no matter the color of the bar, are difficult to distinguish one from the other. I cannot transcribe my scanned documents without putting each one through my photo program to play with the colors to try - unsuccessfully in many cases - to bring out the writing from a muddy background.I ended up buying an external monitor to get any use from the laptop, which is too difficult to return under my present circumstances. I do like the computer itself, but I wish I had bought almost any other machine.This computer is really nice so far. I needed it for school and one of the reasons i pick this one was because it had backlit keyboard and a cd/dvd player. Unfortunately this was falsely advertised because the keyboard is not a backlit keyboard, so this does make it difficult to work on my school work at night while my kids sleep. Thats my only issue though, everything else is working good.I like the smaller size of this laptop - I am constantly on the go, so lighter is better. So far, nothing has disappointed. The laptop arrived in pristine condition, and initial set-up was a breeze. As far as speed is concerned, I have no complaints for my purposes: home accounting software, Excel, word, email, web surfing. I needed the numeric keypad and, although this keypad is on the smaller side, it functions very well. So far, very happy consumer here!The computer is everything I wanted. It’s a great value for me money! I ordered one, and the first one was broken, but they were quick to replace the product, and get me up and running.processor speed seems slow compare to previous laptop.This is an excellent computer! I had an Intel WiFi card installed in it, and now it is perfect for me!Exactly what I wantedI purchased this laptop 14 months ago. For the power onboard, it has always seemed slow. For the past couple weeks, I've encountered the white screen problem that forces me to do a hard shut down to restart. This white screen problem is daily. Sometimes it will flicker between white & the active screen, other times it freezes on the white screen.I will research the repair, but it will be out of warranty, so I will have additional costs.There are many good features about this laptop, but the lack of speed and functionality outweighs the pros.I would not purchase this laptop in the future, so I can't recommend it.
